Marion Michael Morrison
Born: 26 May 1907
Winterset, Iowa
Died: 11 June 1979

Best known as American movie icon and star of westerns. Wayne nearly always played the same character, a big tough but sensitive hero who talked straight and met the bad guys head on. Wayne won an Oscar for his role of Rooster Cogburn for the 1969 film "True Grit".
