Peruwelz, Belgium - (Reuters)
Robbers crashed a truck through the wall of a closed supermarket in Peruwelz, Belgium, and dragged the store's safe
away.
Police arrived in time to start chasing the crooks toward the French border,
following the shower of sparks shooting out of the safe dragging behind their truck.
The bad guys dropped the loot when they realized they wouldn't be able to get away with it still in tow.
In a related story German police are hunting for several robbers who wrapped a
chain around a cash machine in a bank lobby in Willingen, hooked it up to a truck, and tore it off its foundation.
Witnesses watched three
men load up the machine and speed off. Officers spotted the truck and gave
chase, but the men got away.
"We haven't found them yet and we have no new clues," a police spokesman said, though he added that the chain has
been recovered.
