- A 19-year-old woman who
spent
a night in actor Brad Pitt's home while he was away broke into
tears as a judge sentenced her to three years probation and
warned her to keep away from the Hollywood star.
Athena Marie Rolando was arrested on Jan. 7 after police found
her curled up in Pitt's bed, holding a long needle wrapped in
ribbons that she called a ``doll'' and wearing the actor's green
sweatshirt, blue sweatpants, socks, shoes and blue cap.
Pitt, the star of ``Meet Joe Black'' and ``Legends of the
Fall,'' was not at home at the time.
After Rolando pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor trespassing
charge Thursday, Hollywood Municipal Court Judge Dale
Fischer sentenced her to three years probation and at least a
year of psychological counseling. He also ordered her to work 15
days on a graffiti removal crew and stay away from Pitt.
``If you happen to find yourself in the general vicinity of Mr.
Pitt, you are to immediately turn around and walk the other
way,''
Fischer said. ``Do you
understand that?''
When Rolando said that she did, Fischer then added:
``Don't try to get cute, ma'am, because I'm going to be the one
that's going to be determining whether you understood, and
whether you violated this order.''
Rolando broke into tears and left through a back door as the
hearing ended. Her lawyer, Jason Sanabria, told reporters that
he
was not sure why she was upset.
``It's a little difficult to figure out,'' Sanabria said. ''I
think she feels like she's been
victimized.''
According to court papers documenting the Jan. 7 incident,
Rolando took a cab to Pitt's home wearing only a satin nightgown
and slippers. She climbed an 8-foot fence and crawled through an
open window into his home. Rolando spent 10 hours in
Pitt's home before a caretaker called police.
Pitt's lawyers said Rolando has directed a series of harassing
letters and gifts toward the actor, and once placed a ''chant''
on
him and then-girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow.
Wednesday, another judge granted Pitt's request for a
preliminary injunction against Rolando, which requires that she
stay at
least 100 yards from him for the next three years.
After that hearing, Rolando told reporters she was tired of Pitt
and would like to get a restraining order against him.
