I remember when we first came up for the idea for this site. Rob was "that guy" at my job who was always forwarding
emails with jokes or funny photos. I had to tell him after a while to stop - I was the new guy at work and was trying to
stay focused. But seriously, the stuff he sent was funny - too funny to not be able to see. Why not put it all on a
website?
And so we did. And we got some surprising traffic. One night over bowling and beers I believe a wise man once
suggested we let users have a system to submit content to the site. It really helped grow the site and build the Goofball
community.
And then he came along ...
A man from down south named Roger began bombing us with so much material. Uploads of jokes and carefully resized
photos perfect for the site. It was amazing. He also was like the mayor of Goofball for quite some time. As far as I can
remember, he was liked by pretty much everyone. I believe he might have had a "feud" or two, but the Goofball
message boards were lit up with feuds in the early days believe it or not.
The first thing I think of when I think of him is the first time I checked out his fan page. He had a sound bite where he
yelled in a southern drawl "honey come quick werr on tha innarnet!" Loved that.
Rob had a cool story about them golfing together a while back. I am sure many of you have some stories of your own
about him ...
We were especially saddened when we learned he had passed away today. He was a true Goofballer and if you look at
the Goofball Fan Page, he is still the current leader in contributed content and posted comments and messages.
Rest in peace Roger and thank you for everything ...
Sincerely,
The Goofball Staff
